Miracle for Laura Martinez

The Martinez family arrived in Utah in May of 2019. Laura and Luis came with two of their three children, Alison (13) and Jefferey (11) seeking safety because they were threatened by one of the gangs in their country of El Salvador in Central America. Luis was serving as a bishop in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the time. They still have great concern for their oldest daughter, Elisa (21), who just returned home to El Salvador from serving a full time Mission in Mexico. She is unable to gain passage to the U.S. at this time. A year ago, Laura began to feel pain in her stomach. Over time, the discomfort amplified and indigestion issues started surfacing. Over the last 4 months, the pain became chronic, causing her to limit food portions to small amounts. When Laura began losing weight rapidly, the family sought medical help and biopsies were taken of her stomach to try and locate the problem. A week later, they received the devastating news that Laura had cancer between her esophagus and the upper part of the stomach. Upon further testing, the cancer had spread to her breast. The family prays to God for help that the cancer can be controlled and hopefully treated. The Martinez family is hardworking, extremely humble, and thankful for all they have. It is a blessing to have them living among us. They have no insurance and only enough income to barely make ends meet. During this Christmas season, we plead with you to give as freely as you can to their cause.

So……we are joining forces with Anything For a Friend to put together a Giving Tree for this amazing family. Please read the story of the Giving Tree and how it started. It is proof that goodness exists even in the darkest of times! You can donate right on this site. Our goal is to raise funds for anything and everything Laura might need to ease the burden and brighten her days as she navigates this journey with her sweet family! TEAM LAURA will be with her 100% every step of the way! Thank you in advance! Your kindness is forever appreciated! ***For your convenience you can also donate to Laura's miracle through Venmo (becky-anderson-23) or mail a check, written to "Anything for a Friend" and put Laura Martinez in the memo line, to 2885 E. 3025 N., Layton, UT. 84040.
